Some History With two children in public schools and an MBA in Technology Management, Steve Clark began seeing other ways for schools to evolve, improve, and better serve its students. Parent meetings that were discouraging, confusing, and divided people were seen as an invitation to get involved. With a background that included work in training and development, leadership development, community development, and educational technology development, Steve had learned a great deal about building new directions from scratch. Over the years he worked on many committees, led and facilitated, asked questions, listened, learned, researched, and studied. He studied topics ranging from prenatal learning and child brain development, to organizational learning, culture shifting, and systems analysis. His core hope was to help school leaders become explorers of new opportunities. But he wasn't one of them, and was largely ignored. So he then figured out that parents were the sleeping army that could change the world. |
In his quest to inspire new ways for schools to create positive change, Steve realized that parents were hugely motivated, under-utilized, under-informed, and were even becoming deliberately marginalized because schools didn't know how to develop this army of volunteers into a force for the success of each child.
With educational technology finally gaining a larger influence in both the classroom and school board meetings, the avenue by which parent engagement could be improved on a large scale, and at a low cost, was finally available. Digital learning platforms were simultaneously, the puzzle that ostracized parents and the medium through which parents could become mobilized. All that was missing was a lens through which these possibilities could be clearly seen. That is where Parent Engagement Solutions comes in. It is the brainchild of Steve Clark who believes in the power of learning, not just for students, but also for teachers and parents, too. If teachers don't know how to include parents in their child's education process (meaning - more than eighty percent instead of the average fifteen percent), then there needs to be a path for that learning to be achieved. If parents don't know how to interact with schools, help with homework, and create inspired student mindsets, then why not create learning around that? The point is that all of these things can be solved. So let's solve them! |
